Americans are flower hearts, aka playboys.
It''s not like they''re wrong though…

Ohhhhh, that downvote…

Italians are romantic and playboys. So I guess we''re a weird mix between french and Americans? Lol

A lot of people in China aren’t used to interacting with a lot of non Chinese people, add to this an inward looking insular culture , so they tend to roll off tired stereotypes all the time.
The thing that annoys me more is when you tell people the real situation isn’t like that and they basical** just ignore you and say something stupid like “you’re different because you’ve lived in China so long”.
I’ve told people something about my country and they won’t believe me and will then go and get a second opinion from another Chinese person that has lived here.

I’ve told people something about my country and they won’t believe me and will then go and get a second opinion from another Chinese person that has lived here.
…And it''s probab** a Chinese person who lived there for a short time but never mastered the language nor made any attempt to get to know any local people aside from other Chinese or people of Chinese heritage.
I got a short-term gig as a translator and guide for a rich Chinese fami** travelling to the US for medical treatment. One day, we came across this know-it-all couple from Hubei, raising their med school daughter''s two-year-old while she and her husband worked. They were quick to laugh at the fami** for grocery shopping at a nearby Walmart instead of the overpriced Chinatown supermarkets an hour away.
"You don''t want to eat what the local people eat. They just eat sweet things, not even a little spicy, you won''t like it!" Bitch, you''ve been living in Texas for god knows how long and you don''t know what Mexican food is?

Lmao. Maybe. Or it''s all part of Huawei''s bigger plan to transition her father''s role to her

I''ve had one serious relationship since I''ve been in China. I near** married the girl. Her mother, who lived in a different province, was adamant that all Americans were just like James Bond (I know.) and were on** interested in "good times." Ultimate** her mother got her wish and we broke up. I dodged a bullet on that potential mother-in-law for sure.

I''m Canadian. People here general** assume Canada is part of America. Also a taxi driver in Xi''an once told my girlfriend Canadians are slaves to Americans. All things considered, it''s nice being Canadian in China. Nobody knows where you''re from, so the news they see doesn''t real** affect how they treat you.

"Oh! Canada! You must know 白求恩!"
"Who?"
Very good. Canada good."

Norman Bethune? Who the ** is that?

Norman Bethune and Mark Henry Rowswell real** fortified the Canadian image on the global stage. They will be remembered forever for their contributions to certain causes. Yes, Michael and Nimbert will be remembered for all time.

British here. 90% of the time I must be very genturman, 8% of the time I must be the gay, and 2% of the time I must have AIDS because most British people have AIDS (no joke – I''ve heard the AIDS thing multiple times)
Also, no franchman!!!

I look Chinese but I''m American.
Chinese people immediate** assume my ability to speak Chinese is non existent (when in reality it''s just lower than full fluency).
Hailene2092
That''s weird. I look Chinese but I''m actual** an American and Chinese people assume I speak flawless Chinese…
…As opposed to the brain-damaged 18 month-old Chinese I actual** possess. Then they treat me like I''m an idiot because I can''t communicate that well. I know enough to realize when they''re mocking me, so I just start speaking English to them and then they get confused.
Good times for all.

Reminds me of a trip I took with a friend a few years ago. I''m white and speak mediocre Chinese; she looks Chinese and speaks almost none.
It was frustrating and hilarious – I would say something in Chinese, the person would turn to her to rep**, she would look at me, I would respond to the Chinese person.

I think that''s just an Asian thing. My wife (Japan) has lived in America with me for almost 9 years now and she (and her friends) still think Americans = white people.
